Nia is a movement and lifestyle practice designed for your body to move with pleasure. Each class we set a focus and an intention to help carry our bodies, minds and spirits on a journey of self-discovery. We move through seven cycles in class--to warm up, get moving, cool down, play on the floor and come to stillness. Nia can be an high-energy aerobic workout or more gentle, depending each individual’s choice for their level of exertion. The guiding principle of Nia is to choose joy—universal life force energy, and the simple, sustainable movements of Nia bring vitality, strength and balance.


Nia is a unique combination of the dance arts, martial arts and healing arts, designed to energize and nourish the body, mind and spirit. We dance in bare feet (shoes are optional) to soulful music using the 52 foundational moves of Nia that engage the whole body. We dance Nia to build body awareness, strengthen and condition, express ourselves and have fun. No prior experience is necessary. For all levels of fitness. Participants may want to bring a yoga mat for the last part of class where we move to the floor.
